About me

I am an experienced, qualified counsellor based in York, with an MA in Counselling from York St John University. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their ethical code of practice. I have a humanistic approach, which means I work collaboratively with my clients as they seek to make sense of their lives and the world around them. I have worked with clients facing a wide range of challenges and issues, both on a short-term and long-term basis. Areas of focus include (but are not limited to) anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships, family dynamics, bereavement, suicidal thoughts, abuse and trauma. I am passionate about personal and professional development, and I enjoy mentoring trainee counsellors as well as teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I am experienced in working therapeutically with clients face-to-face, on the phone or online – clients choose what works best for them.

Face-to-face sessions are held in comfortable, confidential premises. I am currently working from two locations in York: Millers Yard on Gillygate and a venue on Micklegate, both of which are close to parking and easily accessible by public transport.

I offer a free 30 minute introductory session on the phone to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you. I look forward to hearing from you.
